Kindergarten and 1st Grade Applicants: Screening
Kindergarten and 1st grade applicants will spend 20-30 minutes with our Kindergarten teacher, engaged in activities to get to know your child. Frequently Asked Questions
For any questions or for more information, please email us at admissions@stlucyschool.org or give us a call at (408) 871-8023.
When does St. Lucy start accepting applications for the next school year?
St. Lucy School operates on a rolling admissions process. Once an application is submitted, an email notification will be sent within 5 days.
How is tuition calculated?
We are committed to making the St. Lucy School education as accessible as possible to all young minds. Tuition covers the costs beyond the classroom that factor into a student’s education and full experience of St. Lucy School. Our principal and pastor determine the rates each year.
What are the qualifications for a Participating Catholic tuition rate?
Families are eligible to receive the Participating Catholic rate based on their participation in the life of the Parish by attending Mass regularly, involvement in ministry programs, supporting the Parish through their giving programs, and child(ren) are baptized.
What are the annual fees?
An enrollment fee of $1,000 is due upon acceptance. The enrollment fee covers technology (device, applications and platforms) and class needs.
Grade 8: $75 Graduation Fee
What are my options for financial aid?
Families apply for financial aid each year through the tuition management online portal. The amount of financial aid is determined by each family’s need and the funds available from the Diocese of San and Jose and St. Lucy School financial aid programs. Financial aid is reviewed and awarded by the pastor and principal. The financial aid priority deadline is in February.
To qualify for all financial aid, an application must be submitted through TADS, the tuition management online portal. Applications are available in October. A completed tax return and all supporting documentation is required for the application to be considered. All communication is confidential as families work directly with the Principal and Director of Admissions.
Families who are new to the school may also apply for the BASIC Fund, which is a privately funded multi-year scholarship administered in San Francisco. BASIC Fund applications are available in December at www.basicfund.org.
Does St. Lucy School have an extended day care program?
Yes, we have an activity-based Extended Day Care (EDC) available before and after school, Monday through Friday! EDC opens before school at 7:00am until morning assembly, and after school until 6:00pm.
EDC cost is $8 per hour and $4 per half hour, billed monthly according to hours attended.
What are Lightning families' volunteer commitments?
Volunteer hours
One of the top three reasons why families love St. Lucy is because of our community! From volunteering in the classroom to joining a parent leadership committee, it’s all in support of our students! Each family is required to fulfill volunteer hours each year. Two-parent households are required to fulfill 40 hours per year; single-parent households are required to fulfill 20 hours per year. Households only with a child in Pre-K are required to fulfill 20 hours per year.
Scrip fundraising program
Scrip is a no-cost fundraising program that offers e-gift cards or physical gift cards for purachse at face value. St. Lucy School receives a percentage of each purchase as profit.
Each family is required to earn $250 ($125 for single-parent households) in profit/rebates for St. Lucy School by purchasing Scrip, buying out for the full amount, or a combination of the two by May 1st and April 30th.
